Most things can be sorted in a minute by the right person. Start here, and email us if it isn't on this list.
Your club administrator can fix these
- Your kiosk PIN doesn't work, or you never had one. PINs are issued by the club and can be reissued instantly. Nobody — including us — can look up an existing PIN, because only a one-way hash of it is stored.
- Your name, email or phone number is wrong.
- You can't do something you expect to — booking, reporting damage, assigning a crew. What you can do comes from the roles your club gave you.
- You need to join, or leave, a club. Joining needs an invite code from an administrator or membership secretary.
- A boat is missing from the list, or is stuck out of service.
The app loads but everything looks empty
If BoatLog signs you in but shows no boats, no bookings and no damage reports — or says “Can't reach BoatLog's server” — the most likely cause is a privacy shield or ad-blocker stopping this device from reaching the database. Nothing has been lost. Your club's data is on the server; this device just can't get to it.
We have seen this with Brave's Shields on their stricter settings, and it can equally be an ad or tracker blocker extension, a company or school network filter, or a VPN.
- Brave: click the lion icon in the address bar and turn Shields down for this site. It only affects BoatLog.
- Any browser: allow
app.boatlog.civildigital.co.ukin your ad/tracker blocker, or pause the extension on this site. - To confirm it quickly: open BoatLog in a different browser. If everything appears there, the first browser was blocking it.
If none of that helps, email us — say which browser you use and whether any extensions are on, and we'll take it from there.
Things you can sort yourself
- Forgotten password — use the reset link on the sign-in page.
- “Changes waiting to sync” — this is normal offline. Your work is saved on the device and goes up when you have a connection. If it says changes couldn't be saved, tap Try again; if that keeps failing, email us and say what you were doing.
- Installing BoatLog on your phone — go to Me in the app. On an iPhone it's Share → Add to Home Screen.
- A copy of your data, or erasure — Me → Your data.
Email us
For anything else — billing, a club-wide problem, a bug, or a data-protection or safeguarding question — write to info@civildigital.co.uk. It's the same address for everything, so you never have to work out which one to use.
We answer on a best-effort basis during UK working days. There is no guaranteed response time — if something is urgent and on-water, use your club's own safety procedures, not this address.
Including these makes it much quicker to sort:
- Your club's name.
- What you were trying to do, and what happened instead.
- Whether you were on a phone or the boathouse tablet, and whether you had signal.
- The exact wording of any message on screen.
Billing and subscriptions
Starting, changing or cancelling a subscription is arranged by email — card checkout in the app isn't live yet. Write to info@civildigital.co.uk from an administrator's address and say which tier you want. Prices and your club's current state are on Admin → Billing, and the tiers are on the home page.
If something has gone wrong on the water
Do not contact us first. BoatLog is a record-keeping tool, not a safety system — it does not monitor the water or summon help. Follow your club's safety procedures and the emergency services. We can help afterwards with what the records show.
